2nd rock slide reported in Yosemite National Park
http://free.xiaoyenzi.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/custompark.jpgJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ?  YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) — A second rock slide in two days struck cabins and knocked down trees Wednesday in Yosemite National Park, witnesses said. Officials did not immediately confirm any injuries but a man reported helping a boy with a bloody forehead. The slide happened shortly after 7 a.m., Yosemite National Park spokesman Erik Skindrud told KCRA-TV in Sacramento. Officials went to the area to evaluate any potential damage, he said.Witnesses told The Associated Press the slide toppled trees and hit some tents and wooden cabins near Curry Village amphitheater. The witnesses also said some people appeared to be injured. There was another, smaller rock slide in the same area Tuesday afternoon. No one was injured. Curry Village includes visitor lodging, stores and restaurants with the dramatic, sheer face of a granite cliff as a backdrop. In 1996, a rock slide in the same area sent as much as 162,000 tons of rock pl...

Fire on Camp Pendleton Burns 400 Acres
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2028/1865396414_5f15a3c2ec.jpgHow will you vote on the Measure W "North Beach" advisory vote?  A fire on Camp Pendleton that started around 12:45 p.m. today has burned about 400 acres in the center of the base, according to First Lt. Tom Garnett, and it has yet to be contained. The base is working in conjunction with San Diego County to fight the blaze that’s in what Garnett called an “impact area.” It’s a part of the base that’s void of structures and personnel and is used for training purposes. The fire is being fought from the air. Garnett said no information was available as to how the fire started.

SDG&E's really bad week
http://bp1.blogger.com/_4XyYkHjpjfA/SCThTDtzPJI/AAAAAAAABWM/wnlak6G9iQo/s320/fire_03.jpgFor anyone who complained about returning from Labor Day to a pile of work, consider the kind of week the San Diego Gas & Electric public-relations people just had. On Sept. 2, the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) released a report that said SDG&E failed to properly maintain power lines suspected in starting three of last year’s catastrophic wildfires in San Diego County. The report also accused utility officials of hampering the state agency’s investigation into the fires that killed two people, injured 40 firefighters and destroyed more than 1,300 homes. Then, on Sept. 3, a San Diego jury awarded $15.2 million of SDG&E money to the families of four U.S. Marines killed in January 2004 when their helicopter struck an unlit utility tower at Camp Pendleton. The jury found SDG&E negligent in not putting lights or markers on the tower, and that then-SDG&E president Edwin Guiles and another utility executive “acted with malice” by not ordering the installa...

Yuvraj looking to prove a point
http://mdsingh.webfactional.com/talkcricket/binary/india-flag-87.jpgYuvraj, who has come to being the mainstay of the Indian one-day middle order, still struggles to book a Test berth.  But the Punjab southpaw who has been going through a patchy form of late is determined to put his case strong during the four-day match.  Selection is not in my hands but I'm confident of getting my form back. This match is a great opportunity for me. There were some flaws in my batting but I have worked on those areas.," Yuvraj said here Thursday.  Moreover, I'll be proving a point to myself, rather than to others.

First rings ... then bells for Simpson, Romo?
http://community.citrix.com/download/attachments/27394061/churchlady02.jpgThe St.  Engagement buzz is again being heard about Giselle Bundchen and her injured QB, Tom Brady, but a close friend of the supermodel tells me, ''I don't think they will even bother getting engaged -- and will just slip off and marry quietly.  FUNNY FOLKS: Dana Carvey told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Sarah Palin's voice reminds him so much of his ''Church Lady'' classic from ''Saturday Night Live,'' he's put ''her'' back in his stand-up act. That led Tina Fey to call Carvey. Could a gig be in the works -- teaming Fey's ''Palin'' with the ''Church Lady'' in an upcoming "SNL" skit?  Robin Williams did it again! The Oscar winner returned Friday for another surprise appearance at the Lakeshore Theater -- similar to his unscheduled impromptu shows at the Lakeshore back in May, while he was here for the Chicago taping of Ellen DeGeneres' talk show.  Look for the always outrageous Sandra Bernhard to be scary-funny for two Halloween-time shows Oct. 27, as part of Steppenwolf's ''Traff...
